Mynapoint
Japanese マイナポイント
Mynapoint was a program by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications that gave cashless payment points to people who got and registered a My Number Card. Round 2 offered up to 20,000 yen in points and has ended.
Mynapoint was a points gift from the Japanese government to get more people to make a My Number Card, Japan's personal ID card. In Round 2, you could get up to 5,000 yen in points for getting a new card, 7,500 yen for registering the card as your health insurance card, and 7,500 yen for registering a bank account to receive public payments. The points went to a cashless payment service you chose. It was like leaving a small gift at the entrance of a new road.
Watch out Round 2 has ended and the official site has closed. Signing up needed a smartphone or computer and a payment service, so many older people who were not used to digital tools went to phone shops or help desks. If a customer asks you about it, first calmly tell them the program is over.
