Deepfake (AI-made fake media)
Japanese ディープフェイク(AIによる合成映像)
A deepfake is an image, video, or audio clip made or changed by AI so that it looks like a real person or event and can easily be taken as genuine. Because it can be used to deceive people, some laws require it to be labeled as AI-made.
A deepfake is a fake video, photo, or voice clip made by AI that copies a real person's face, voice, or movements. Like a well-made counterfeit bill, the problem is that it is hard to tell from the real thing at a glance. The EU AI Act defines a deepfake as AI-made content that resembles real people, places, or events and could falsely appear real to the viewer.
Watch out If you get a call or voice message in the voice of your boss or a family member urgently asking for money, do not simply trust it. The FBI recommends calling back on a number you already know and agreeing on a secret word with your family. If you post an AI video that looks like a real person on your website or social media, clearly say that it was made with AI.
