MCP (how AI connects to outside tools)
Japanese MCP(Model Context Protocol)
MCP is a shared standard for connecting AI apps to outside tools such as files and search. It saves rebuilding each link by hand, so the AI can do real work.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a shared standard that AI apps use to connect with outside tools such as files, databases and search. Just as USB-C lets many devices plug into the same kind of port, MCP links tools to an AI app in one common way instead of building each connection by hand. The official introduction itself compares MCP to a USB-C port for AI apps. That is how an AI can read your calendar or documents and then do real work.
Watch out If an AI can use an outside tool, it may also read or change your data. The MCP specification says a person should be able to deny tool use, and that sensitive operations should ask the user to confirm. Check which permissions you give each tool, and do not connect a tool you do not know.
