Alarm fatigue
Japanese アラーム疲労
When warnings come too often, people grow numb and ignore or mishandle even important safety alerts. When security news keeps coming, it helps to shrink it down to a few small tasks.
Alarm fatigue is what happens when people receive so many warnings that they grow tired and become numb, even to the ones that really matter. A well-known example is a hospital where machine alarms beep all day: nurses get used to the sound and can miss an alert they truly needed to see. It is a lot like the story of the boy who cried wolf. It is not laziness; it happens because the number of warnings is more than a person can handle.
Watch out When security news goes on for days, website owners can easily end up in this state. Instead of trying to follow every update, write down two or three tasks, such as checking whether your site is affected, updating, and making a backup. That makes it less likely you will miss the warning that counts.
